Margaret has a Bachelor’s degree in International Public Health and Sociology from New York University. She also has a Master's degree in Sociology from UC Berkeley, where she is currently pursuing her PhD. Margaret has several years of teaching and mentoring experience and looks forward to helping Quad applicants get into their dream schools.
As the oldest of six children, Margaret has always loved helping people through the unknown. Margaret was a remote mentor to high school students through the Illinois Science and Technology Institute and an honors thesis mentor for Berkeley seniors. Developing longstanding relationships with students as they explore their curiosities and discover the directions in which these passions might take them has been a highlight of her academic career.
Margaret is passionate about emphasizing the versatility of an applicant's strengths and prioritizes clear, collaborative schedules for consistent progress that help applicants feel confident about the process. With so many components and so few visible guidelines, it's easy to feel overwhelmed by college admissions - but with honest, supportive feedback and some planning, she encourages students to view each component of the application process as a joyful reflection of experiences and plans.
As an experienced coach, Margaret employs her distinctive learning experience to prioritize discovering a narrative that considers the dynamic and adaptable nature of students' interests and aspirations. She recognizes that it can be daunting for students whose experiences or passions don't conform to conventional expectations. Yet, she has come to appreciate that most students possess a deep-seated curiosity or interest, even if they struggle to articulate it. Moreover, Margaret acknowledges that traditional narratives of definitive goals or passions often dominate the college or career terrain.
When Margaret isn't coaching, she is experimenting with sourdough, knitting, and playing cards with her family.
